iceland.

we had a trip planned for april.

but our wonderlust couldn't manage to wait that long until our next adventure.

so with your sister's birthday it's only fitting that you book round trip tickets to iceland as a birthday treat.

stuff your suitcase with your warmest clothes and away we go.

do.
reykjavik isn't a huge city. in fact it's pretty small and easily can be explored by strolling around for the day. we landed super early from a redeye flight and couldn't check in to our hotel. so we grabbed breakfast and set off navigating the town.

eat.
Kaffislippur was tucked inside a nearby hotel and was the perfect place to grab coffee and toast to start each morning.

we didn't travel to Iceland for the food but when our Northern Lights tour was cancelled we splurged for the tasting menu at Dill. it didn't disappoint with it's Nordic inspired cuisine. definitely make a reservation at this Michelin starred restaurant. we basically had to stalk the restaurant to snag a table due to a last minute cancellation.

Snaps and No Name are two other great spots for lunch or dinner.

drinks.
my two favorites were the very cool kaffibarinn for beers in a cozy candlelight off a Reykjavik side street and mikkeler & friends which is tucked above the pizza restaurant and serves over 20 beers on tap.

stay.
there wasn't a lot left to choose from when we finally got to booking a place to stay for our trip. but lauren scored us a room with Planet Apartments. it was in the perfect location, had a full kitchen, patio and is a cost effective alternative for groups that want to save a little (flights to Iceland are affordable, but once you're there things are pretty pricey). the only downside is there are no early check-ins for those red-eye flyers.
